Kosair Children’s Hospital
We feel it is extremely important to give back to the community. Considering our shirts will be worn by expecting mothers, we could not think of a more fitting organization to support than Kosair Children’s Hospital and the “Just for Kids” Campaign.
Kosair Children’s Hospital serves more than 107,500 children annually throughout Kentucky and Southern Indiana. It is Kentucky’s only full-service, free-standing pediatric hospital. As a non-profit regional facility that treats all children regardless of the family’s ability to pay because the hospital relies heavily on support from the community.
The Children’s Hospital Foundation, the philanthropic arm of the Kosair, is currently involved in a $208 million growth initiative for the Hospital. The “Just for Kids” Campaign will fund facilities, equipment, and educational/research programs to help improve the health and well-being of children for decades to come.
I have experienced first-hand what Kosair Children’s Hospital means to so many families with a sick child. My nephew, Tyler, was born at Kosair on June 21st, 1999. He was born 15 weeks premature, weighed less than 2 lbs and needed a respirator to support his underdeveloped lungs. He was in the neonatal ICU for 12 weeks where he received cutting edge medical care by Kosair’s outstanding medical staff. Miraculously, not only did Tyler survive, but serious mental and physical disabilities were averted because of the extraordinary care he received. Thanks to Kosair Children’s Hospital, Tyler is a normal 10 year old with a bright and unlimited future.
My nephew’s story is just one of many miracles that are experienced daily by families who have a child undergoing treatment at Kosair and it is all made possible by the generosity of others.
